Business Operations Manager

The Role

The Business Operations Manager will support the strategic partnerships initiated by the sector and facilitate vendor management. The role works to ensure planning and onboarding activities are successfully implemented. The formulation of business initiatives across Entertainment and Culture to ensure business partner requirements are met. Monitoring of progress and ensuring a coordinated approach to the successful execution of all strategic initiatives. The role will be to develop strong working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to deliver the outcomes expected and demanded of the industry. Acting as program manage for  key transformation and administrative initiatives. They will act as an advisor to sector and dept heads and assist staff in various ways according to the needs of the organization.

Accountabilities

 

  • Coordinate with each department heads to ensure that plans are in line with strategy and highlight any deviations and mitigation plans
  • Identify improvement areas to implementation plan and internal business performance/processes that would improve sectors’ ability to reach its goals
  • Work with ED’s and Directors to identify and recommend targeted partnerships to be explored and developed and relationships to be established with the MECF sector
  • Build strategic alliances with internal and external entities to achieve required outcomes.
  • Assist executives to establish and maintain good communication channels and working relations with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of Business Operations and communicate directly with executives in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation
  • Identify and strategically manage important relationships between Media ECF team members and other internal sections and departments. Serve as a business, systems and relationships expert, handling inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of internal and external communications.

Planning + Strategy

 

  • Review and execute on improvements to org structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and help address the Media EC Sector needs
  • Work with the Sector leadership to develop the operating strategy for the Sector and work with corporate shared services (such as HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, Marketing) to ensure that the Sector has adequate and suitable resources to deliver its objectives and that all areas are aligned to the strategy
  • Develop and improve business processes and management systems; coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
  • Build and develop relationships with all employees: for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations, and help to define new operational strategies.
  • Be the first point of contact for other departments / sectors needing to work with the Media ECF Sector and for any issues/concerns involving the employees in the sector.

Operations

  • Conduct project management activities for allocated initiatives and department functions
  • Develop and manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers and service providers and provide contract management and administration services to Media ECF Sector
  • Capture sector’s requirements and manage procurement process (including preparation of appropriate documentation, procurement approach, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the human resources department with respect to new hires, including documentation and onboarding, and collaborate to address and resolve all employee concerns,
  • Liaise with corporate shared services with regard to new hires, onboarding, induction, etc

Budget Management

  • Manage sector budgets and work with the sector leadership and finance to plan budget requirements
  • Monitor, manage and report on financial and budget matters for Media ECF department.
  • Costing and financial analysis for ad hoc initiatives.

  • 7 plus years experience in a similar Business Operations / account management role with a strong financial and commercial background
  • Strong Leadership and stakeholder management experience
  • Experience developing and engaging internal and externals teams
  • Strong communication/influencer skills
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Project management skills
  • Proven team leadership in developing and motivating high performance teams
  • Strong commercial acumen to develop strategic and commercial relationships
  • Bachelors Degree
