Enterprise Data Architect

Summary

 

The Enterprise Data Architect would ensure that the Energy sector business strategy is supported with the right data strategy & capabilities. The role will lead the design of the future Energy data architecture, its data management policies & procedures and data governance setup enabling our software development teams to deliver quality services, through architecting and building highly-available and resilient (big) data platforms. 

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Determine the strategic data requirements, its principles and data management standards, data management policies and procedures including risk mitigation.
  • Determine, design, develop and manage
  • how NEOM Energy Sector data will be collected, transmitted, stored, managed, accessed, used and shared within NEOM
  • the energy data model blueprints to ensure right level of overall data integration per the business strategy and applicable NEOM standards
  • the data architecture and the implementation roadmap of the data management capabilities.
  • Act as the QA authority to ensure the implementation of the Energy Digital Platform (eg. build as designed).
  • Together with the Enterprise Architect and AI/DA Team define the required IT Data Infrastructure.

  • The above responsibilities will lead to the following:
  •  
  • Develop new architectural ideas that would effectively capture and collate data across multiple domains (including generation, distribution, consumption, and storage of energy) from standard, non-standard and IoT data sources.
  • Architect highly scalable, highly concurrent and low latency data architectures that facilitate seamless integration between the data lake, the data pipelines and analytics/AI models.
  • Define, Design and develop services and solutions around large data ingestion, storage and management such as with RDBMS, No SQL DBs, Graph DBs, Log Files, and Events.
  • Work together with the end users & development teams to promote data integration and ensure solutions meet end-users needs which could be real time, offline and batch processing.
  • Coordinate all data related projects.
  • If situation requires provide 2nd line support services.
  • Work with third-party and other internal providers service to support a variety of integrations.
  • Work with Information-Security-Lead to jointly define, implement and ensure data protection and privacy policies are in place for all relevant data entities.
  • Work closely together with the EWF Security Officer and NEOM’s CISO Office to ensure the Energy data complies to all the applicable data & cyber security standards.
  • Seek opportunities to continuously improve the overall functioning of the Energy Data Platform, from a cost, carbon footprint, organization & technology point of view.
  • Actively contribute to the establishment of a NEOM-wide Data Governance model that ensures overall alignment and minimum rework between the different NEOM sectors/dept with regard to developing the future cognitive/digital city of NEOM.
  • Assist with future recruitments of data engineers and scientists.

 

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Minimum of 10 yrs. experience in data (solution) architecture roles is a must.
  • Specific experience working in Utility Sector especially electricity is a huge plus.
  • Proven track record in defining & implementing data strategies including topics such as; data architecture, data design/modelling, data management/governance.
  • Experience in database design, data modelling techniques and data management.
  • Experience in translating business process flows into supporting data models with clear master data & system definitions and corresponding governance structure.
  • Experience as a solution architect designing large scale analytics, decision making and reporting solutions, based on big data technology (preferably AWS and/or Azure).
  • Experience in working with OT data instrumentation & automation (such as Smart meters, PLC, Scada, etc) is a plus.
  • Experience of designing, setting up and running big data stacks such as Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, S3, Cassandra, Document DBs, MongoDB, Kafka.
  • Strong understanding & experience with different solution delivery methods (eg prince2, Agile, etc) and tools (eg. dev/ops, CI/CD, etc).
  • Experience in managing 3rd party vendors both onsite & remote.
  • Experience in designing batch/stream processing with Spark or Samza is a plus.
  • Coming from a solution architect background having hands on experience in setting up big data platforms based on dev/ops principles is a plus.
  • Experience with open-source solutions and community.

  • Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of latest data model & data governance techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of both AWS & Azure (big) data architecture platforms. This is highly desirable
  • In depth knowledge and experience in IaaS/PaaS solutions (eg AWS Infrastructure hosting and managed services).
  • Understanding of high availability concepts using cloudera, Horton Works, MapR, etc.
  • Be well established in the concepts of structured and unstructured data which includes key-value stores, column stores, document stores and graph databases.
  • Be abreast of the latest industry & technology trends to determine possible opportunities.
  • Understanding and experience of search data applications/platforms such as ElasticSearch is a plus.
  • Knowledge of scripting and/or basic programming skills (especially python) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture / solution design patterns is a plus.
  • Knowledge of containerized architectures including Docker and basics of microservices
