Manager, Sustainable Building Design

Summary

The Sustainable Development Division within the NEOM Environment Department is searching or a dynamic and innovative sustainability leader to join the Sustainable Planning and Design Team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced career professional with highly developed technical knowledge and leadership experience. The NEOM giga-project aims to be the most environmental conscious and sustainable development project on the planet. This role is critical in supporting the implementation of NEOM’s Regenerative Development Management System in the planning and design phases for all projects across NEOM.

 

Responsibilities

The Manager Sustainable Building Design reporting to the Acting Senior Sustainability Planning & Design Manager is responsible for the following:

Coordinates the effective, high quality and timely interface between the Environment and other NEOM Departments in relation to asset design for nominated projects across NEOM

Drives the implementation of best practice and innovative design through an integrated development process with the objective of achieving NEOM sustainability goals for the buildings and iconic assets.

Support proponents in the preparation of sustainability-related standards and guidelines, policies, and procedures

Interfaces closely with the Sustainable Development Division to ensure appropriate, rigorous, and timely assessment of NEOM development projects.

Responsible for proactively engaging with planning and design teams on all building design related environmental and sustainability issues.

Guides building designers and sustainability specialists in the sustainability compliance of the assets.

Manages the compliance review of the Sustainable Building documentation  

Provides technical support and guidance related to sustainability within NEOM and to external stakeholders where interface is required (e.g. developers/ consultants/ suppliers).

 

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in MEP Engineering or architectural engineering.

Other qualifications in sustainability related to design/engineering such as CEM or CEA from the association of energy engineers (AEE) or equivalent.

Twelve (12) or more years’ experience across the fields of sustainability and energy in buildings.

Professional qualification and work experience with development, and/or implementation of ‘Sustainability Rating Systems’ such as USGBC LEED, Mostadam, Passive House or equivalent and a strong understanding of energy management.

Proven track record of successfully leading a sustainability program, policies and regulatory frameworks or processes such as ISO50001 energy management systems; ISO14064 (quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals); building energy auditing; energy modelling; lighting design; commissioning and/or Measurement & Verification.

Strong technical sustainability skills across building design services including effective management of resources and assets, i.e. Life Cycle Analysis.

Strong written and verbal communication & report writing skills.

Strong leadership, interpersonal/ people management, and mentoring skills.
