Manager Freight Forwarding

Summary

The Freight Forwarding Manager will lead, design and oversee the operation and ongoing management of the Freight Forwarding component of the supply chain and logistics chain of NEOM Industrial CIty, working with companies, importers and exporters to make sure goods are transported in the safest, most efficient and cost-effective way, providing NEOM with the world class supply chain and logistics services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop of the Freight Forwarding function’s plans and estimated budget in alignment with NIC’s overall SC&L strategy
  • Supervise and coordinate amongst all reporting units to ensure collaboration and integration of activities
  • Implement approved policies, procedures and processes in reporting units
  • Develop the operating model of the Freight Forwarding function and regularly review it to maximize utilization of available human capital and optimize operational effectiveness
  • Identify, recruit and develop resources to drive the mandate of the Freight Forwarding function
  • Lead the development of the most effective and appropriate shipment routes and methods for transporting freight and recommend shipping solutions that minimize cost and environmental impact
  • Lead the negotiation freight transportation with carriers, truckers, railways, non-vessel-operating common carriers (NVOCC) and others
  • Ensure the organization and planning of the transportation of goods and freight from source to warehouse and in all intermediate destinations, offering consolidated services by air, sea, and land
  • Oversee the handling of all documentation as per the appropriate requirements and regulations, and through the appropriate platforms and systems, including insurance and inspection certificates, certificates of origin, consolidated charge receipts, custom clearance, shipper’s export declaration, and others
  • Manage and organize payments or process transactions on behalf of the client, such as freight charges and negotiate shipping rates
  • Ensure tracking of the movement of freight in transit through various software and SC&L specific technologies
  • Maintain relationships with key clients, keeping them up to date on the process of their goods and informing them of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipments
  • Provide export and import quotations to customers and provide assistance to them in case of a claim
  • Ensure the sourcing of freight insurance that can provide additional protection to customers’ freight against potential losses that may occur during transit
  • Oversee the arrangements for packing and loading of goods
  • Determine the appropriate methods to stock cargo, taking into account factors such as weather, terrain and type of goods and take appropriate measures for the movement of delicate goods
  • Stay informed on the topic of relevant geopolitical activities and legislation that might impact the transportation of freight

 

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience at in freight forwarding for major multinational companies, preferably in local clearing and forwarding, trucking and special project forwarding logistics
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration or a related field
  • Preferably a masters’ degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration
  • Strong proven experience developing new businesses and ability to develop close relationships with key clients
  • Strong leadership and motivation skills in addition to decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills
  • Excellent MS computer software skills
