Principal Engineer - Digital Systems

Summary

 

 

ENOWA is looking for candidates with experience, at a strategic and functional level, in digital substations including IEC 68150, protection and control of transmission grids including those of AC underground cables and AC substations. Protection of DC grid cables and converters will be a plus.

Good knowledge, at a strategic and functional level, digital substations, protection and control schemes, protection and control devices, protection functions is a must. Interpersonal and communication skills, a focus on efficiency, and enhanced multitasking abilities are required

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

 

Conceptual definition, design and procurement of tools and processes

 

•           Contribute to the design and implementation of ENOWA’s power grid infrastructure strategic objectives and goals by implementing near, medium-, and long-term solutions at the lowest costs, with a focus on protection and control.

•           Work with senior engineers to simulate, validate, and implement digital secondary systems, control schemes and protection philosophies

•           Help develop and implement standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure a comprehensive delivery of expert services, systems, and outcomes

•           Lead developing standard protection and control schemes and drawings

•           Develop synergy with local and international organizations with involvement in design and simulation tools to keep ENOWA up to date with the digital industry

•           Ability to manage external expert and technical consultants for the delivery of engineering solutions and designs

•           Different ENOWA and NEOM departments

•           Suppliers

•           External organizations such as SEC, KSA Government Agencies, Energy solution providers

 

 

Education & Experience

 

 

•           Minimum 7 years of relevant experience

•           Bachelor’s or Master’s or PhD degree in electrical engineering

•           A minimum of 12 years for bachelor, 10 years for master’s and 7 years for PhD degrees of relevant experience. Minimum 6 years at a transmission level

•           Experience, at a strategic and functional level, in digital substations including IEC 68150

•           Experience with protection of HVAC, MVAC, and LVAC systems

•           Experience with protection of AC substations and AC underground cables

•           Knowledge of protection of HVDC systems

•           Knowledge of protection of DC substations and DC underground cables

•           Knowledge of protection devices and protection function

•           Knowledge of protection settings

•           Experience with insulation coordination assessment

•           Clear reporting and presentation skill

•           Experience of protection systems subject to low system fault levels and inertia would be an advantage.
