Project Engineer

NEOM’s Energy sector is looking for Project Engineers to coordinate and contribute all the power related activities within TSO Projects department, in collaboration with the Project Managers, to monitor project schedule, budget, and provide regular updates to teams and management. He/She will ensure project planning is aligned with agreed strategic, financial and operational targets, monitor project performance against these targets and support performance management within the department.



Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the design and implementation of NEOM’s power grid infrastructure strategic objectives and goals by implementing near, medium, and long term solutions at the lowest costs
  • Lead TSO projects, including construction of EHV and HV substations, substation automation and SCADA system, and underground cabling infrastructure throughout its lifecycle from conceptual stage to the completion
  • Review design calculations, drawings and verification studies submitted by design consultants
  • Provide review feedback in time and proactively engage with both internal and external stakeholders for resolution of review feedback
  • Ensure safety and QC/QA throughout the project lifecycles
  • Prepare project estimates, budget, schedules and execution plans
  • Share lesson learned with the wider teams.
  • Help develop and implement standards, guidelines and best practices to ensure a comprehensive delivery of expert services, systems, and outcomes
  • Develop synergy with local and international organizations with involvement in design and simulation tools to keep NEOM up-to-date with the digital industry



Education & Experience



  • A bachelor or master’s degree in electrical or electromechanical engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Design and construction of 380/132, 132/33 kV, or similar substations, underground cabling infrastructure, substation automation and control
  • Integration of PV and wind plants at HV and EHV levels
  • Management activities including tracking budgets, status and milestone reports, and client interactions
  • Design and execute test plans, build and qualify test apparatus for use, and document methods and assumptions and prepare reports and presentations
  • Must be able to develop and understand single-line diagrams & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), bill of material, and perform hazards analyses (HAZOP)
  • Able to work independently and in team
  • Experience in the middle east would be desirable
