Fire Water Lead

Summary

 

NEOM Water is looking to recruit a Fire Water Lead to help define and implement a Fire Water Strategy for NEOM.  Working closely with our Water Distribution Networks and Wastewater Recycling Networks teams, the Fire Water Lead should have specialised experience in fire engineering, firewater networks, fire protection, emergency preparedness, emergency and crisis management.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Act as the technical authority on firewater networks and help develop NEOM Water’s Guidance Document on the Provision of Water for Firefighting.
  • Be the central point of contact between NEOM Water and other NEOM Departments/third parties (including design consultants) for technical issue related to fire water networks.
  • Responsible, in conjunction with water network engineers, to review designs and calculations for all fire protection systems.
  • A key touchpoint will be NEOM Operations teams.
  • Identify operational problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and suggestions; interviewing process supervisors and operators; completing troubleshooting procedures.
  • Carry out remote analysis support, diagnosis and recommendations of onsite system/network performance issues.
  • Preparation of reports and guidance notes.
  • Provide site-based support on installation and commissioning of systems when required. Carry out site-based troubleshooting, diagnosis and recommendations of system performance issues when required.
  • Prepare and present training courses for both office and site-based personnel on firewater networks.
  • Carry out site-based training and commissioning.
  • Perform site-based technical training and technical assessments to identify system issues and fault finding.
  • Experience or water pressure management systems would be an advantage.
  • Methodical and accurate.
  • Great problem solver and able to carry out diagnostic investigations.
  • Quick to identify key issues and priorities and make practical and balanced decisions.
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT and communication technologies.
     

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Safety Engineering or Fire Engineering, with comprehensive knowledge of water networks design and operation.
  • Other Engineering degree, with specialism in water distribution networks and firewater networks might also be considered.
  • Sound knowledge and in depth understanding of water distribution networks including the design, operation and maintenance of potable, recycled and firewater networks, including hydrants, flowmeters, PRVs and pumps.
  • Sound knowledge and in depth understanding of both UK, US and KSA legislation, standards and guidelines in respect of fire water including but not limited to:
  • UK Water Act 2014
  • Fire & Rescue Services Act 2004
  • Fire Services Act 1947
  • National guidance document on the provision of water for fire fighting, Water UK
  • BS EN 12845
  • US National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • American Water Works Association (AWWA) Standards.
  • Saudi Building Code
  • Saudi Civil Defence Regulations
