Urban/Master Planning Design Director

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">The Urban/Master Planning Director will manage different masterplans, following guidance from the Executive Director. They will conduct different technical teams composed by internal and external team members.

 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">NEOM is soliciting applications for a Director of Master planning for its Urban Development Department that is tasked with conceptualizing and designing all masterplans and assets that together form the NEOM project, which constitutes a series of new city developments. These are underpinned by the highest ambition in terms of offering quality of life to its residents whilst providing a paradigm shift for what defines a world-class business environment. The project further sets out to become a model development for how future cities should be designed, delivered and operated.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">The Director of Master planning will be a key member of NEOM’s Urban Development Department and responsible for the NEOM Regional Plan, including all subordinate Structure Plans and Local Plans. The role will be directly supported by technical and management experts from within NEOM and by external consultants that are embedded within the NEOM organization. Other organizations will provide legal expertise, economics and financial inputs as required.

 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Responsibilities

 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">The Director of Master planning will report to NEOM’s Executive Director of Urban Planning in NEOM whilst managing or undertaking the following tasks:

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Develop and maintain a detailed and up to date understanding of NEOM’s vision and objectives.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Liaise with other NEOM Departments and NEOM discipline/ sector heads on a regular to understand their evolving works and priorities.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Oversee the preparation of (1) the NEOM Regional Plan (2) the subordinate Structure Plans and (3) Masterplans and all corresponding infrastructure design packages which will either be developed to Concept Design (10%) or Schematic Design (30%) levels.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Lead and conduct regular progress reviews either in person or via video calls and ensure that design progress is made in line with agreed project requirements.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Lead and conduct design reviews of all design at key project stages.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Coordinate with all relevant NEOM Departments, NEOM discipline/ sector heads and external stakeholders having jurisdiction over NEOM and ensure that their respective requirements are properly reflected in all evolving design works.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure that all (planning) design works comply with the evolving NEOM codes, standards and guidelines and exceeds global best practices.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Advise planning officials in NEOM on project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, regulatory conformance and possible alternatives.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Prepare reports for NEOM’s Board of Directors.

 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Requirements

 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Engineering from an accredited university – Masters' degree preferred

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Professional registration and accreditation with Architect, Engineer or Project Management Institute i.e. MCARB, MRIAI, RIBA, PE, MICE, PMP, SCE etc.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Minimum 20+ years' experience in the design of large, multi-disciplinary projects, with 10+ years in a design management role on a complex project, preferably in the Middle East

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Detailed knowledge of, and fully conversant with, international codes and standards e.g. IBC's, SBC, BS Codes, Euro Code etc.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Proficient in Microsoft packages, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc., good knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD packages is desirable
